Mark Murphy is one of the great voices of jazz and an icon for all modern jazz vocalists. This wonderful recording celebrates his close friend Shirley Horn with four of her trademark songs reinterpreted in Mark Murphy's inimitable style. It's a warm and sparse sounding session with 'plenty of air' - the recording venue of The Merion Inn, Cape May, N.J. was specifically chosen for its acoustic properties. Mark is joined by Shirley Horn's longtime drummer Steve Williams, Betty Carter's double bassist Curtis Lundy (brother of Carmen), the sensational young New York pianist Alex Minasian and the German trumpet star Till Bronner.
